Every summer, the historic town of Pego is transformed by magnificent costumes, traditional marching bands, spectacular floats and hundreds of participants celebrating one of the Valencian Community's most treasured cultural traditions. The Grand Parade is the highlight of the festivities, filling the streets with music, colour and unforgettable pageantry.
The modern Moros y Cristians celebrations in Pego began in 1967 and have grown into one of the most important festivals in the Marina Alta. Inspired by the historical encounters between the Moors and Christians during the Reconquista, today's festival celebrates local history, friendship and community spirit rather than conflict, attracting visitors from across Spain and around the world.
